Modern Café Design: Flexible, Welcoming Spaces
Read café design through comfort, acoustics, light and service flow, as well as its visual identity.

The design perspective
A café may serve a quick morning coffee, an afternoon of work and an evening conversation. Different seating situations can support these uses more effectively than one uniform arrangement. Small tables by a window, a banquette along a wall and tables that can be regrouped provide useful options. Their value depends on how they work with staff movement and customer circulation, which should be considered from the first layout sketch.
In everyday use
Stone and metal can create a striking interior, but the way sound travels through that room is also part of the visit. Upholstered seats and appropriate acoustic treatments deserve a place in the architectural discussion. Choose a chair with a physical sample, rather than a colour swatch alone: test it beneath the intended table, assess back support and see how easily staff can move it. A convincing café identity begins with a coherent daily experience.
